At Christmas we like to have a cookie-making party where everyone gets to help cook and decorate (oh yes, and EAT). This year we made sugar and spritz cookies. We have an elaborate collection of cookie cutters, which were kindly donated to us, and despite being off-topic we had to try out the dinosaurs and safari animals. Jen donated the tree and she and Bruce decorated and strung the lights with Hattie advising. We made the lighted present boxes under the tree, modeled after something we had seen at the store, and the ornamental table decoration.

You've Heard of Brain Age, Right?
|
Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do... (Christopher Morley)
We all know we should exercise our mind just as we should exercise our body. We encourage everyone to get their daily brainercise no matter what their mental reality or ability is. This can be something as simple as finding a product on the shelf at the store, ordering like words or numbers, or describing what they see in ink blots to more complex mental exercise like playing board games and cards, building puzzles, reading, or doing crosswords and wordfinders. Among our favorites: Gin, Hearts, Uno, Life, Boggle, and Kings in the Corner. Sometimes we play with changing the rules to go with the flow of everyone's "mental reality".
I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope....And that enables you to laugh at life's realities. (Dr. Seuss)
